Welcome Welcome to my collection of resources and useful information on Anorexia Nervosa. This site contains loads of information on Anorexia so hopefully there will be something useful and interesting for everyone. Anorexia Nervosa means "loss of appetite" for nervous reasons. This is a little misleading though as often people who suffer from Anorexia Nervosa, may have a normal appetite but reduce their eating so their appetite is not satisified. Generally, people with Anorexia Nervosa do not wist to starve themselves, but they won't accept the seriousness of restricting their diet. If you have Anorexia Nervosa, then you will have an intense fear of gaining weight and losing control of your body shape. Your focus on food may be a way of exerting control on your life. To do this, you may restrict what you eat and also, you may use laxatives or diuretics. This is due in some part to the way that modern society places great emphasis on being thin, however, the reasons for Anorexia aren't quite as simple as that and there are many other factors. Anorexia Nervosa usually starts between the ages of 15 and 25, although it can appear outside of that range. 90% of sufferers of Anorexia are women. Some studies suggest that around 1% of girls between 15 and 25 suffer from Anorexia Nervosa. Information on Anorexia Nervosa |
